Charged twice for one item

On Saturday, 09/11/2013 i purchased a denim jacket for R299.00 form Honey Child clothing. I produced my standard bank debit card to pay for the item, i was informed that the transaction did not go through. Inquired from the shop assistant if she was certain that there was no debit from my debit card she assured me it did not go through. After two failed attempts, I gave the shop assistant cash.
I got my jacked and i left. On Sunday morning when i was doing my Internet banking i realised that there was in fact a debit from Honey Child reflecting on my statement for the amount of R 299.00. I visited the store requesting them to give me back the money i paid cash to them as they have already debited and received the cash from banking account. I gave them a copy of my bank statement as well as the till slip where i paid cash. They refused to refund the amount, the area manager informed me this afternoon (to cut a long story short) that there is nothing she can do, the matter is out of her hands. She said there is nothing reflecting on their side, but no proof of this was produced.

I'm a very upset and disappointing first and definitely last time buyer @ this honey child
