I have two family members that shop at Checkers because it's supposedly cheaper so on Saturday we gave it a shot (Our groceries, excluding meats, usually come to around R 4, 000), now never mind that we did not relay see a decrease in your bill against what we spend at Pick n Pay Hyper Lifestyle, but the store is in horrible condition.
It's dirty, horribly so
Half of the fridges aren't working properly, so the put a glass with ice on top of the foodstuff to see if it's making cold and guess what, all the ice melted.
The fish was defrosted, the veggies where defrosted, the ice-cream melted.
The store has 100's people in it but the isles are to narrow to allow for people to pas or go from one isle to the next.
We had to trough some items out when we got home as the where already expired
And again the store is DIRTY!!!
No, I will pay more (If it even is more expensive, but like I said I don't see it), but Checkers won't see me again
