Around 6pm 07 Oct I was doing my shopping at Checkers, Sunnypark Pretoria,
while changing trolleys I accidentally forgot my car keys. 10 mins later I
realized they were missing I went to check they were no where to be found.
I reported to security and store manager and looked everywhere without
success. I left, the next did the same searched and asked, no keys. Later
on the 8th Oct at 18h45 I decided to go back again, I approached the guy
working at the market produce area and asked if had found any keys, he
asked 'How will I give him? ' And jokingly I said R250 then he showed me my
keys and said I should go get the money 1st. I reported him to the
security and manager but all they did was to ask him to give me the keys.
I feel action should have been taken against this guy, as I believe he was
supposed to take keys to lost and found section not keep them for personal
gain or to blackmail customers. We need to know that when we enter a
checkers we are safe, not to be robbed by employees.
