After having having received a message to call a number urgently with a reference #, I obliged and that's how the conversation went (not 100% accurate, but very similar)
Agent: 'What's your account number! '
Me: "Which company am I talking to? "
Agent: 'What's your account number? "
Me: "If you could tell me which company you represent, I might be able to give you this number...'
Agent: 'Truworths, what is your account number'
Me: 'Sorry, I don't have my account number with me but I do have a reference number, if this helps'
Agent: "I need the Account Number'
Me: 'I am really sorry, but I only have a reference number here, won't that help to find my account number'
Agent:'Give it to me'
Agent: 'Explain to me how you could allow your account to get into arrears! '
Me: 'Sorry? '
Agent:' 'Explain to me NOW how you could allow your account to get into arrears'
Me: 'I didn't know that I was in arrears....'
and so it went on....eventually we found out that Truworths had indeed send a statement but to my physical address which usually gets delivered, what, 2-3 months later...
The amount overdue was R172.94 (!!! ) - only to totally p&*# off a client, wow....
