Awful Toothpaste

I recently purchased a double pack of Colgate Maximum Cavity Protection - we've been using it for years. But this time there's definitely something 'off'. It tastes like there's no mint in the toothpaste and you're left with this horrible, bitter taste.

Maybe this was a bad batch? We purchased the goods in the last week of August. We only started using the new toothpaste this week.
