Often we buy meat from the Food Lover's Market at Value Centre next to N1 City, however, these days we are just too afraid to buy the meat due to the fact that on a few occasions the meat has been off! A few weeks ago we bought fillet steak which apparently was fresh and was just brought into the shop a few days before (fresh from their supplier). The expiry date on the package was the 25 May and it was only the 15 May. Once we opened the meat it didn't smell like it should but we thought it was just due to packaging. We then braai-ed the meat and it had a bright red colour once cut. It still didn't smell proper but we tasted a small piece anyway and alas the meat was completely off! We took it back, cooked and all, and our money was returned. However a similar problem happened with chicken breasts! This is unacceptable! People could die from food poisoning! Now we don't purchase meat from Food Lover's Market at all due to being scared! The quality of the meat needs to be improved and this matter needs to be resolved or they will continue to lose business and valued customers!
