I recieved a call today from the debt collectors of MR Price informing me that i owe MR Price R7700. Mind you I have NEVER EVER opened an account with MR Price. My ID was last year and this account was opened after my ID was. This person has been allowed to purchase on the account 5 times for over 6 months and has not paid any installments, and only now do I recieve a call? The account was opened at the MR Price in Kenilworth and the address and contact numbers of this person are not even the same as mine. The consultant I spoke to told me that no contact was made with this person when the account was opened besides sms's. Clearly this may affect my Credit Record, So I would like to know WHAT kind of credit checks do you make before you allow someone to open an account, how do you know that this person is who they say they are, and how do you allow someone on whom no credit checks have been done to be allocated a credit limit in excess of R7000? I will be taking legal action if my credit report is negatively afftected.
