Sadly, my mother passed away on the 29th April this year. The week after her passing I contacted Edgars in order to go about closing her account. I was told to fax through a copy of her death certificate and her I.D. I did so, but because she held insurance on her account i was told that I would have to physically go into one of their branches to settle the closing of her account (I've still never been told why this was necessary). I'm a student at University and so I asked my dad to help. In store after explaining everything, the managing clerk threatened that Edgars would approach him for payment of her outstanding balance. My mom and dad were married Anti-nuptial with Accrual, so I'd like to see how their argument holds up in a court of law. It's been two months and I've made numerous phone calls and sent through numerous copies, but her account remains unclosed. I feel like we should have just paid her outstanding balance of R253.00, in order to have avoided all the grief. But, why? This is the exact reason why my mom took insurance on her account. I'm 20 and will never, in my personal capacity hold an account with Edgars, it's simply not worth...
