I purchased a packet of Crisp Lettuce Head at Woolworths in Gardens Shopping Centre in Cape Town on Saturday 11th May 2013, stored it in the fridge and opened it on 13 May 2013 to have for supper. To my utter disbelief, there was a big worm in it and faeces all over the lettuce leaves. It was completely disgusting! I tried calling the Woolworths Customer Helpline but your working hours end at 5:30pm and it was about 7:30pm. I called the store at Gardens Shopping Centre and informed them about it. They asked me to bring back the lettuce. I rushed there and the manager logged a complaint for me to the head office. However, he did so in a rush as the store was closing at 8pm. I felt horribly sick when I got home and could not even have dinner. That lettuce was so gross! Woolworths are all about high quality and boast about having the best products on the market. This is totally unacceptable for a Class 1 product. Imagine if customers knew about this!!! I am seriously considering making this public so that people know that they should not just trust the name brand falsely. What if I hadn't noticed and had eaten that lettuce with all these bacterias on!
