Unacceptable service

My husband purchased my engagement ring from NWJ in 2011. I was proposed to on the 31st of December 2011. My ring had been sized from an N to an L. We then came into the store and purchased the band that matched my ring. 1 week before my wedding I went in to give my rings in to get sized down to a K. On the day of my wedding (March 30, 2013) my husband went into the store to fetch my engagement ring as well as my wedding ring. Not even a month later, a diamond fell out of my engagement ring and when I took the ring back I was told that I would have to pay for it as it is due to wear and tear (repair number 635085). I am really not happy with this and do not find it fair that I now have to pay, as I really do feel that the ring should have been checked properly when it was sized down for me. I have heard from various other people that work in the jewellery industry that it should be done free of charge.
