I have been contracted with ADT from September 2011 and since we have been contracted with them the service offered is less that pathetic. i made up my mind to change security company and have since joined CHUBB and i issued my 1 months notice as was advised to me when i spoke to the sales agent initially before signing a contract that, that will be the required notice period and that there is no fixed term and additional charges. i was also informed that the system that would be installed would be mine and in the event that we cancel, the system will be left behind and ONLY the radio device would be removed. upon issuing my notice i was emailed by the customer service department saying that i am still in contract and still liable for another 6 months and have to pay a discounted fee of R700.42 and that they will come & remove the alarm system which was told is mine by the sales rep. i have already started with CHUBB and they have installed their system already. i informed ADT that the system that CHUBB provided had been installed in our granny flat as i was told that the system was mine and they cannot remove it. they said that if i want the system i need to pay them R3500!
