I parked my car at the above premises where Fidelity is responsible for the security. After a gym session, I found that my vehicle was broken into and some of my property was. I went to find the gym manager but the security officers were not there. The manager found them on the lower parking level in their guard booth reading the newspaper. The guards came out later and I asked for their manager who never showed up. The same evening and following day I tried to get a response out of the Cape Town branch. They informed me the guards were getting a disciplinary hearing. I contacted the client liaison officer in Johannesburg who referred me to the claims manager, Mr Jacobs. I was asked for a list of supporting documents for my claim for damages which I provided. After more than a month of waiting and following up with various reasons from their side why it is still not resolved they informed that they cannot find an indication of gross negligence on the part of the guards, the activities of the guards are not causal to my loss therefore my claim is faulty and will not be paid. Their guards neglected to do their job and therefore my vehicle was broken into. That is negligence.
