On Friday, 4 Oct, we left our house at 12h40. At 13h30 our alarm was triggered. Chubb called my husband at 13h31, no answer. They then called me at 13h33, no answer as I was driving. At this time I entered our street, from where I can see my property. There was no one at my gate, nor did any vehicle pass me to exit. I arrived at my gate at 13h34, to find my gate open as well as my front security door & front door. After waiting for Chubb to arrive, I eventually called them at 13h42 & asked them to send an armed guard. Chubb eventually arrived at 13h50, precisely 20 min after the alarm was activated.
Upon speaking to the guards we were advised that there are only 2 response units in the area. Both were attending to another scene (2.7km from our house). Furthermore, they advised that they have 1 response vehicle for every 350 houses. They were very sorry & advised that they would offer us 2 months free subscription. I advised that I was not interested in the 2 months free subscription, rather I wanted to know what they will be doing & changing in their operations to ensure that this didn't happen again in the future. There response was 'nothing, just that they are sorry'. Pathetic!
