Deposit paid by tenant now company not reimbursing

I have been trying to get our tenants deposit reimbursed. but recieved the following comment from Experia Properties
" There was no merger between Apple and Experia. Apple's business was sold to CSTM Rentals, from whom Dimac received referred business when CSTM went under. We can unfortunately not accommodate any correspondence on this matter any further. As we have never received the deposit, nor have we ever received any indication from you that the deposit had not been paid to you. We are unable to assist any further."

I was never asked to inform them of anything when these changes were made. Now when we are asking for a reimbursement we get that above paragraph
