On Saturday the 8 June 2013 I noticed the unit not moving around the pool. I took it out and upon inspection noticed the teeth on the one belt was stripped. This was a five months old unit. At first I was informed by the returns department the belts was wear and tear and not covered. After much discussion I was informed that the technician Pumhlani will inspect the unit on Monday and if it was defective it would be refunded. I was also informed that a full report will be provided.

On Monday I got a call from Pumhlani telling me the unit was repaired and I can fetch it, the belts was replaced. He told me it was because my PH was too low. He was able to diagnose my PH from the Makro offices. Even stranger is that the PH only damaged one belt. To me it looks like a defective or badly designed unit and if it is unable to handle fluctuations in PH then it has no place in a pool. I have now gone back to using my old Pacer which works fine.

Makro refused to refund me even though they had to repair the unit within 6 months.

I eventually gave up and left the unit behind with Makro as that piece of has no place in my pool. So R2500 for 5 months use. Was a very expensive lesson.
