We have just sold our house in an upmarket Lonehill estate and are looking to rent for a year before emigrating. Being house owners for over 35 years, this is our first experience as prospective tenants.
Yesterday we responded to an Angor advert for a townhouse to rent, and tried to set up an appointment to view. We were immediately presented with a document to complete requiring a load of confidential information and giving them authority to conduct credit, character and employment checks on us. All this BEFORE we had even seen the house! We objected on the basis it was premature and unnecessary, only to be told it was "company policy" and for our "own protection"; but we need not worry, Angor promises to "destroy" all our information if we dont like the place. Quite bizarre really!
Now having read all these complaints on Hello Peter, I am very grateful to be spared from having to deal with Angor. If this company is going to treat everyone like potential criminals, they don't deserve to be in this business. Moreover, as the sitting chairman of our Body Corporate who are considering appointing a management agent, I shall certainly not be recommending Angor for the job!
