Rented a property through Bregan and decided not to extend the lease period 2 months before it's end.
I informed them of this as required by the lease agreement.
Due to having to travel for work I wasn't going to occupy the property for much of the last month of the lease period.
I offered to do the check-out earlier than the last day of the lease - NOT wanting any of the rent back I had already paid for the last month.
I was just going to be out of town on the last day of the lease.
Now they are claiming I broke the terms of the agreement - despite having paid up until the end of the lease - and are refusing to refund my deposit.
They have not responded to numerous requests for why I am not getting my deposit back.
I have now been in contact with Tshwane Housing and a lawyer who will hopefully be of assistance.
At the end of the day, I was offering them and the landlord the opportunity to get a new tenant in earlier, without asking for any of my already paid rent back and this is how they chose to behave.
After searching the web this seems common practice for these people.
Avoid them at all costs!
