We've rented from Mr. Roux. We've been warned by people not to do any business with him as he won't pay back our deposit because he steals from people and never pays. But my husband and I thought that if we did everything according to law and paid our full deposit to him we'll get our deposit back. It's been a year now and still no deposit received from him. We did our research and he didn't pay the previous tenants also never got back their deposits. We went to small claims court but the commissioner never showed up, the 2nd time around the sheriff couldn't get hold of the landlord to deliver documents for next court date. We went to the housing tribunal and the landlord advised he won't make it. When the sheriff went there the first time the landlord was complaining to her that we cost him R15 000 damage which is not true. The place we rented was in a bad condition to start with he never came to do inspection when we moved in so he didn't know the state the place was in. When we moved out he refused to do an inspection with us only did it a week or 2 later so in my opinion the grass will obviously be longer and won't be in a good condition. Please help as we are fed up
