I have a prepaid electricity meter in my house. Since 15 April 2013 the meter box has been playing up. Without anyone touching it, it will randomly make beeping noises and the code ----30---- appears. I cannot see how many units I have left, neither can I upload a new voucher. I am afraid I am going to run out of electricity soon! I have been calling City of Johannesburg's call centre but have been sent from pilar to post. At first they denied that it's their box, but Eskom's. Eskom assured me it's not their prepaid meter box. I have called City 6 times in 4 days, and my report was even removed on 18 April and a note made on their system that it was fixed. NOBODY HAS BEEN HERE TO FIX IT! NOBODY!!! I get told everytime that it will take 1-4 HOURS!! I suppose it's really 1-4 months at the rate it's going. I have asked to speak to a manager and after 15 minutes of listening to silly tunes over the phone, I hung up as these calls are costing me money and I get no joy. If I don't get results by 12 pm on 19 April, I am taking this matter to Carte Blanche and Third Degree, since we have local governments now under suspension. The media will be interested in this story too!!
