I regularly receive phone calls from call centres looking for clients of mine - they would only be able to get this information from SARS as our contact details are on our clients Taxpayer records - we are Accountants and Tax Consultants. This means that someone at SARS is getting paid to give out confidential information of Taxpayers - this is in total contravention of SARS Bill of Rights and Obligations with Taxpayers and very very illegal. Besides it is illegal for people to phone with cold calls and waste our time. The lady on the other end Charlotte was excessively obnoxious when questioned. Said someone would phone me back to offer an explanation why they are using confidential information - needless to say no one has phoned. This is potentially a huge case of corruption at SARS and should be investigated.
