A student attending UJ was mugged and robbed at knife point after classes near the Park Station on 5/2/2014 at 21h30. When reporting the incident at the Park Station Police Station first thing the next morning, he was referred to the Hillbrow Police Station. There he was told to wait until they had finished 'eating' and discussing personal matters. After waiting for an hour and a half he was asked what he wanted. He explained the incident over and over to two so-called policemen and could not get them to give him a case number. It was only when a detective enquired about his problem that the matter was attended to but they were unable to give him a case number as the system was not working neither could they give him a copy of the report as the copy machine was not working and he had to rewrite the report. The student has been traumatised by the incident and will have to attend trauma counselling. It is really disappointing that the people we are supposed to trust and depend on are the ones with the 'devil may care' attitude. How can we put our faith and trust in them???
