I myself am a qualified teacher (M.Ed), I am a director of a children programme. I now have been approached by 3 parents of autistic children to find out if I know about any school in our area for autistic kids (the closest is in Randburg). In my naivety I actually believed out District Office would help. 9 phones calls later and after being laughed at, I am still no closer. Our constitution states that every child has a right to education. Well I know of a few that are being denied that right (they sit at home) because there is no such school available in our area (and there is clearly a need).
How disappointing. I am terribly saddened by this.
