My electrical meter has not been read in over a year and when I contact the city of Tshwane Municipality via email they just ignores me. I do know that somebody read the email for I added a read request and it was read Wed 2013/09/11 01:59 PM. Every month they add estimates and the estimates is way above my current meter reading. The guesstimate reading on my account payable 20 September 2013 stands on 43364 but the actual reading on the 6th of September was 41917. It seems that they want to force you to go with the new smart prepaid electricity meter - go live 1 October. I tried emailing the reading every month but they got tired of updating my account and just started to guess the reading again. I am not going to pay R4566.00 and then they charge interest on incorrect data.
