South African Police Service
Police Officer judged my case in police station

I was hanging out with a group of people, friends of my one friend, and they accused me of one girl's money from that group. They immediately referred the matter to the police station and upon arrival, the police officer in charge took the statement from the complainant alone. I was summoned to some back room where I was thoroughly searched and no money was found on me and yet the police officer was totally convinced I it. No other person was searched from the group and I was ordered to pay the girl's money amounting to R1000.00. The police officer further threatened to lock me up and emphasized that, because I am a foreigner, I should keep quiet or else he would lock me up without an option of a bail. It should be noted that the money in question was in a handbag, in the car I was sleeping in. I never left the car except for when we got out at the police station and at the time, there was some guy, whom I did not know, who was assaulting me, telling me to give him the money. Part of the money was dropped in the car by one of the girl's friends YET the police officer didn't search her at all. No statement was taken from me or the friend of mine I was there with.
