Our water meter is outside our property in our neighbours flower garden. We reported a huge leak on the pavement. The next thing we get a bill for R23 000. How can we be held responsible for a meter leak on the street? We were given the run around, our electricity was cut off and after talking to 8 different individuals (who all said its not their department but could not tell us which department could help) have been sent to HQ in PTA and back again we are told we have to pay a 60% deposit! The deposit is worked out on the average water usage and in our case included the water leak!!! We have now approached our ward councillor.
