I have been requesting that my TV licence be cancelled since 2011. A TV licence has been issued in my name without me even applying for a TV licence. I opened an account at Furniture City on the 08/05/2010, on which my husband Mr E Opperman bought a TV with his SABC TV licence number 250237773. Several months later i received a letter (dated 30 July 2011) from VVM Attorneys demanding i pay an outstanding amount of R750 before 13/08/2011 and if not paid will lead to legal action against me. After receiving this letter, I immediately called the SABC customer service number and spoke to a call center consultant, Andrew. I explained the situation to him and he advised me to write a motivation letter stating the situation and include a affidavit, a certified copy of my marriage certificate, both my husband and my ID documents and including both TV Licence numbers and fax it through to the SABC Query Department, which I did. I have now received a notice of imminent legal action from Munnik Basson Dagama Inc. for a final request of R1675. This is rediculous!!! SABC TV licence are who just want to gain money from innocent people! So many people are facing the same problem!
