Marine World & Auto (Peterswatersports) Waterfall area Durban
Dishonest Business (peterwatersports) Waterfall Boating Shop

Hello everyone

I would like to share my experience with Marine world and Auto (Waterfall) Inanda Dam Area.

I purchased a brand new Sea Vee 500 (2015 model) on 2nd Trailer with (2003) 85hp yamaha including trim and tilt in July 2015. R106500 vat inclunding.

I was quoted via email and telephonically. Once i had all relevant quotes and paperwork i took the plunge and ordered the boat. Deposit paid followed by further progress payments. Prior follow up payment i received pics of the boat and progress reports from Mr Peter Kuffler. These were coming on nice and i was obviously very excited. Finally came the day i departed from Cape Town and drove to Durban to collect the boat. When i got there i was greeted by staff but Mr Kuffler not to be seen. After a few hours Mr Kuffler appeared bragging about the 2nd hand Bmw hes just bought showing me and his staff (Gary, Llewelyn and the guy who builds his boats which origanlly designed all MALLARDS BOATS . Following this he seemed to want to get the transaction finished quickly as he was leaving to go abroad on holiday. I felt fairly pressured at this stage. I walked around the boat and pointed a few defect which i was not happy with. As you can imagine boat was in the shadows and was being cleaned. I notice that the trailer axles hubs were not existend. Not being a expert i was reassued that this was normal and the correct trailer for boat. Who am i to argue with the profesionals. I assumed all was then good. After trouble with getting the trailer lights to work property eventually i left Durban being promised my new boat cover will be delivered once complete in Cape Town. To this day i never received it. Once in Cape Town I took the boat to our local trusted boat shop and was given the once over. To my dissapointment I was given a 2 page defect list I was told i bought a lemon.

Boat and centre console were second hand and they showed me all the old gauge holes which have been filled in including all old scratches in the transom and bottom of the boat. We can only assume it was second hand. Engine and trim system did not fit the 2003 model as quoted which i paid a extra R10000 for. Trailer was unable to be registered as braking system was not existend. Due to weight of trailer, boat and engine totaling 1150kg brakes on the trailer were needed. This has been completely removed. According to Dekra roadworthy if your boat trailer and engine exceed 750kg Brakes are required. Its law. Being a first time buyer i was shown by the specialists that the engine number was removed and could not track the history of the motor. Weld present on motor where previous conrods have broken through and welded up. Engine was not in good shape. Looked like many different engine parts were put in this motor from various motors then claiming it to be a 2003 model. Serial number on Trim system varifys 1998 model. 2003 was quoted. After much dissapointment i called Peter Kuffler to confront him with my finds and reports. He apologised and said that he will have defects corrected. I must take the boat to local boat shop and have them fix it and then he will pay them back. Trusted boat shop would not take the risk as it would be a very expensive afair. I was then told by Mr Kuffler that he had to save on costs as i got a good deal and thats i must understand he had to make a few changes. I reverted back to the email quotations and told him he could not do that. Im simple terms the quote received and product received are miles apart. P.s None of these defects were highlighted on his Dissclosure Form. I told him subject to consumer protector act i as a customer have the right to return the boat withing 3 months for full refund. Mr Kuffler told me he would not refund me and he will sell the boat on my behalf and i have to send it back to him. That was not to happen. I contacted my Lawyer and we are in the process with legal action. As time has gone by and to my amazement i came accross a advert on Gumtree advertising my boat. The exact same photograhs he sent me which were supposed to be the progress photos. However he has advertised the boat as 2014 model and included a a different centre console pic which fairly fits the filled up holes. Lawyer has now been made aware of this findings. I trust our justice system will make the right decisions as it is in there capable hands with my great lawyer. Pls be aware this is my situation i have with Marine world & Auto. I cant speak for any other person or parties that have had isssues with this company. I think it is only right that this is made public so many hard working citizens can make good decisions. This is my personal experience and chances are i wont be surprised if Marine World & Auto disagree with my story. Feel free to contact me for further info if required.
