I had ordered a 5 tier wedding cake from this bakery, by showing them a picture of the exact cake I wanted. I left feeling assured that they could handle the job. They later invoiced me for the amount of R6250. The picture I gave to them was of a five tier cake but the baker said the bottom had to be polystyrene to hold the rest of the cake up, this was all verbal in the 1st meeting that we had. Therefore the invoice stating four tier made sense.
My wedding day came along and I was in horror by what stood lopped sided in front of me. The cake was about to fall apart. Only two tiers were actual cake, it looked nothing like the cake I had given a picture of.
After a lot of fighting and arguing I managed to get a R2000 refund. Reason being was that he said "one" tier was missing and not two. in other words he initially invoiced for one polystyrene layer. The mazipane was folding off the cake. It looked like a squashed pumpkin. I have photos as proof but this bakery never once phoned to apologize even though I received 2000rand back that cake wasn't nearly worth R4250.The baker still had the edacity to post a pic of the cake on his facebook page to advertise he used a shoddy dark photo
