Delayed/Missing Parcel

I ordered an item from Germany and was told that it will be sent by DHL. Thinking that I would get a fast, efficient door-to-door service. BUT, DHL parcel service uses the SA Post Office to deliver packages in SA. The parcel took three days to arrive in SA from Germany (Thousands of kilometres) and to date it has taken more than 4 days to travel the remaining 50km from OR Tambo to my house. I have been told that delivery could not be done on Wednesday. - there was someone home all day. Today they could not make contact with the driver and they could not find record of the parcel on the system at the depot. I wanted to collect it their myself. Twice I was promised that they would call back. After waiting for 2 hours I eventually had to remind them again. Later I was told that they will deliver tomorrow - who knows? No apologies! DHL is damaging their corporate image by using the Post Office. DHL is a company with an excellent track record, being pulled down by the truly pathetic, useless and incompetent Post Office in SA. I am avoiding any contact with the Post Office. That's why I would rather pay more to courier items than stand in queues and deal with unpleasant people.
