I've received your letter dated 17 June 2013, mailed 12 August 2013 and delivered 3 September 2013.
This matter was first brought to my attention in April/May of this year via a telephone call from a consultant, Caroline. I requested a statement of how this debt had come due. No such information was furnished. It is irrelevant though, as I have moved my business from FNB nearly 8 years ago, and any debt I may or may not owe has prescribed in terms of section 10 (1) of The Prescription Act 68 of 1969 as no legal action was taken as set out in section 15 (1) within 3 years. If you disagree please provide me with proof, as well as the statement of the original debt; the interest calculation - according to you letter 0.00% interest charged on R9 664.40 comes to R6, 646.60; and a breakdown of Legal fees (excluding the R1 000 collection fee) - R1 743 for one letter and one phone call seems excessive. Alternatively, please close this case.
