After 10 years we told monies still outstanding

Atfer more then ten years since my wife settled an outstanding account with Foschini she has been told that there is still monies outstanding. She is still awaiting the proof of the "so called" balance that is outstanding. She also have been told to get an affidavit indicating the monies has been paid up. Surely Foschini should have this proof as well.
