I went for a doctor's appointment at the beginning of 2011 with an understanding that my medical aid would cover the consultation and I would be made liable for a co-payment.

Two years later I receive an sms saying that I need to settle the short payment by the medical aid for the 2011 account. Medicross did not care to send me any statements or notifications in that 2 year period. I phoned the accounts department and asked them to please send me an account so that I could settle the amount owing. Within the week they had submitted my account to Vericred.

Vericred has contacted me and wants me to pay the account and debt collection fee.

If I had known about the short payment I would have settled it immediately. I am not willing to pay a debt collection fee because of Medicross's laziness in getting the account to me.
