Your birthplan or hers?

When I first went to see Dr Packirisamy I told her that it was my wish to have a natural birth as I had had an emergency c-section 8 years earlier with my first child. She informed me that 32 weeks we would evaluate to see if that would be possible. At 32 weeks my husband and I went to the appointment to discuss the birth plan and she asked me when would I like to book my c-section. When I reminded her of our original conversation she told me that was it not possible for me to have a natural birth after a c-section. That I would be endangering my life and that of the baby and proceeded to list all the dangers and scaring the daylights out of my husband. All this without even putting me on the sonar or examining me to see if it would be possible. I went for a second opinion with the specialist Obstetrician at Genesis Clinic and AFTER EXAMINING ME he informed me that I was young, healthy and very capable of having a natural birth but that should complications arise which happen in any birth I could have an emergency c-section but that we would set up weekly appointments to monitor the situation until the due time. I moved over to Genesis to work with the Specialist Oby-Gyn & Midwife because I would have been happy to have a c-section providing it was my last resort. Not being told without examination that it was not possible. I must say that the most appalling reason for this review was not that her medical opinion differd from another doctor, but that afterwards when I was trying to get my blood results and medical history for the midwife they wouldn't release or share ANY of the information about my body and baby to us. We had to contact Lancet and get the results sent directly from them. Her receptionists response was "We don't do that." and the doctor never replied to any of my telephonic messages. If you want a voluntary c-section and take 6 weeks to recover from a major invasive operation (because that is what it is) then this woman is the gynae for you. If you want a natural child birth, I suggest you look somewhere else.
