Perfect Hideaways (PH) offers exclusive self-catering. PH advertised 7 nights accommodation in December for 8 people at Scrimshaw Cottage for R42k. PH's ad stated very clearly that Scrimshaw Cottage 'sleeps 8', but not that 2 of the 8 pax would sleep on mattresses on the floor! PH accepted my full advance payment & their standard booking form that requires the names of guests but the form had place for only 6 guest's names. PH booking agent Sue refutes the ad offers accommodation for 8. I call PH owner Helen to confirm we'd be a party of 8, as per the offer, and that our friends (6 pax), sharing the cost, would withdraw if 8 beds were not available. She confirms by return call that the loft in the cottage will be opened in addition to the 3 bedrooms that sleep 2 pax each. On arriving we find the loft locked. Manager 'Rita' refuses to open the loft, despite Helen. Our friends arrive from Botswana next evening, sleep on the floor & leave the next day, annoyed. I confirmed the breach of contract with a lawyer then wrote to Helen on 9 Jan. Her response: "At no point did we advertise 4 bedrooms. There was never any misrepresentation so we feel there is little we can do to compensate".
