I had the dubious honor of being admitted to the Eugene Marais Hospital last week for a small knee operation. The night staff on duty at the reception/information station the night before my admittance very extremely rude. When we arrived at the hospital on the morning of the operation, I was linked to a doctor I did not even know. When this was pointed out, the attitude was, so what, we will fix it. The man sitting behind us was booked in as a WOMAN and he got the same response. Once we got to the ward we were shown to the bed and told
that my husband wold be admitted soon. This took about 2/3 hours before it happened. Once he settled on bed, we noted that the sheets were in a terrible condition, torn and stained. There were NO stands available for drips, etc, This is what a person expect in a state hospital, not a private one that costs you an arm and a leg. The staff did not keep the patients abreast of what time they will be operated on and generally had a bad attitude. A hospital to stay away from!
