My Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in mid March this year and passed away on 2 May. Frustratingly, it took over 3 weeks to get medical aid approval by Bonitas to proceed with radiation & oncology treatment which obviously was too late. She only received a handful of radiation sessions before succumbing to the disease.
I have been tasked with settling all her bills and have received 2 from Pathcare that have not been paid. I cannot understand why as she was on a fully comprehensive medical aid plan.
Today I tried resolving the matter directly with the Bonitas call centre (I tried doing so with Pathcare but was told that they cannot contact Bonitas directly). I got through to a person named Venus Africa at the call centre in cape Town to be told the computers are down and I must call back. After asking her to contact me as I was calling from a mobile phone and am not office bound as well as the fact that it's good customer care I was told that she can't as "imagine if we have to call everyone back"!! I'm speechless...
Can somebody please assist to resolve this matter for me.
