I live in Johannesburg, am a senior citizen and bought City Slicker dinner vouchers for 4 to dine at Simon's at Groot Constantia. Before purchasing the vouchers I made sure we could reserve a table for 4 on 2nd August, being my husband's birthday, a special treat which would normally have been unaffordable for us. Having confirmed the booking, I purchased the dinner vouchers for R320 and then proceeded to book flights to Cape Town. A week before we left my son received a call from David to say our reservation had been cancelled due to the fact that they were fully booked for a function. This was extremely disappointing for us, after all my efforts and unnecessary expense, his bad attitude and lack of interest. As we were only in Cape Town for a few days we were unable to make use of the dinner vouchers. The restaurant was closed on Sunday night, all day Monday & Tuesday. David told me to get a refund. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anybody and its on the tourist route. I wonder how many tourists get ripped off as well?
I will also take this matter up with the Consumer Protection Act. I expect a refund and compensation from the restaurant.
