3 cases in which Discovery shortpayed hospitals, citing co payments imposed by my plan, despite them being emergencies where severe organ damge may of occured. Case1:I lost a baby at 12 weeks and 4 weeks later was diagnosed with a large mass on my uterus. Already traumatized, I was unprepared for what lay ahead. After a Laparotomy, I was diagnosed with severe & aggressive placenta accreta (basically a tumor of placenta) on the outside of my uterus & after a course of chemotherapy (which Discovery refused to pay), I underwent an operation, in which I flatlined 3 times, where the Dr had to remove the tumor & reconstruct my uterus and bladder. She then did a Cystoscopy to ensure bladder function. Case2:My husband had a 8mm kidney stone (self explanetory!)The Dr had to do a Cystoscopy to remove it by laser. The kidney stone broke in half and shot back up the kidneypipe-which resulted in case 3 (another cystoscopy to remove the stone) Discovery policy-"co-payments will be waivered if there is danger to life, organ or limb"We have left Discovery after being with them for almost 8years as a result! Where were they when we needed them mostWe're now blacklisted as a result! We were loyal, they weren't, a pity!
