In the start of February 2013 my husband and I requested to join Discovery Classic Core hospital plan. When we first heard back from them, they informed us they wanted my husband to go for a full medical exam (paying out of our own pocket). He did the tests and sent the results to them. They replied, still refusing to accept us on the scheme and sent my husband to do more tests on the tests that he did in the first place (paying out of our own pocket). We have now been struggling for more then a month to join.
After sending the new results, Discovery still were not satisfied. They wanted results from x-rays my husband did more then 3 years ago.
Meanwhile I have been on birth control as we have only been planning on having children in 3 or 4 years. The pills and other methods failed and I fell pregnant. We confirmed the pregnancy in April.
After being treated like lepers/outcastes we signed the acceptance letter in May which stated the waiting period will be 8 weeks.
Discovery is now refusing to pay for the birth of our baby girl and we are forced to pay R30, 000 out of our pocket. They have also increased my waiting period until April 2014. The do not care for their clients!
