Members beware - they do NOT pay for laparoscopic surgery - even when it is the only way for an operation to be carried out - and even when every other Medical Scheme in the country pays for it... They now expect me to pay R42 000 to the hospital (and I've paid the surgeon R8000 already) -so R50 000 they refuse to pay (and for this my husband and I (pensioners) pay R3800.00 a month? They demanded I have OPEN SURGERY when 99% of operations like mine are carried out worldwide by laparoscopic surgery. Try getting hold of this elusive "Medical Advisor" - what a joke!!! Someone sitting behind a wee desk dictating how I should be treated by my surgeon - and then telling me to pay up. I offered to pay the surgeon's costs when I applied for Authorisation - but no-one thought to inform me of the R42 00 theatre fees they would not cover. Shame on you!!! It is obscene. Fedhealth is obscene - and no - they don't CARE Mr. Jordan!!!
