My mother went into Sunninghill Hospital for an operation and lost both her hearing aids. Despite the fact that the hospital has notices posted all over that they are not responsible for loss of personal belongings, Netcare Sunninghill Hospital paid for the full replacement of 1 of the hearing aids.
When the incident happened, it was unclear as to how the hearing aids disappeared and in fact could have been thrown away mistakenly as they were wrapped in a tissue prior to going into surgery. And despite the fact that I had made no requests or threats to the hospital for the replacement of the hearing aids and having no expectation for their contribution to acquiring the new hearing aids, they approached me and made this very generous offer.
I am eternally grateful to Netcare Sunninghill Hospital for really going the extra mile.
