Medi-Clinic
Bad advise and possible

A friend of mine had her first baby at Sandton Mediclinic (which is in Bryanston!)
She wanted natural, but at 36 weeks was told baby will be too big for natural. At C-section baby was almost a kilo lighter than gynae's estimation! Baby was taken away immediately as 'baby is cold', taken to NNU, and then parents are told blood sugar is low so they gave baby a bottle with formula. They only found out baby's birth weight the next day when my friend met her baby the first time, there was no paperwork at baby's bed! Then followed a confusing routine of bottle, breast and nasal tube feeding, with the paed claiming 'baby is not sucking properly', baby has however gained weight just fine the entire time. There is no advise given to my friend, any help with feeding is given with an attitude, and paed has a 'wait and see' attitude. As first time parents they trust him, but started questioning a week ago which had him on edge, but he continues to convince them baby must stay yet all NNU are doing is playing nanny (at a huge cost!). It has been 3 weeks now and baby is perfectly healthy. They are ripping off the medical aid and taking precious bonding time away from baby and mother. Avoid them!
