What Do Our Medical Aids Pay For? Very Sad!

Thursday evening we took our 6month old baby to the Union Hospital as she had quite a bad cough, she had no appetite whatsoever & vomited everytime we gave her some milk. We were told that she has a chest infection and were given antibiotics & various other medicine. We went home & she was screaming which resulted in us going back at 1am Friday morning where it was discovered she had impaction caused by severe constipation. Only at 6am that morning was she admited into the hospital. She was examined by a Pead and turned out she actually didnt have a Chest Infection-didnt need any antibiotic etc that my med aid already paid for-she had the RSV virus. During our stay at the Union the level of service, profesionalism and downright compassion towards us as parents and our baby was SHOCKING, i had to stay there 24/7 for 5days because i WAS THE ONE that needed to look after my baby because nobody else was going too. The Pead and Physio lady was brilliant & the 1or2 nurses were really GREAT & made a BIG difference but the REST specially the night stafff-i felt like i was at a goverment hospital!! I even had to go by my OWN medicine for my baby's sore throat when i was ACTUALLY at a hosp.
