Hi there, I have a Samsung tab 2 that I took into Samsung's head office in Canal Walk in Cape Town about 2 weeks ago as the phone did not want read any sim cards being put in the phone. When I was busy with booking it in, the lady told me that if it is simply the sim card reader damaged then the warranty will cover it. So I received an email from Samsung repairs saying that the sim reader is damaged but due to it being attached to the mainboard, the whole mainboard needs to be replaced and I will have to pay in R2000 for the repair. This is pathetic because Samsung manufactured the tablet and they should have foreseen an incident like this happening, so whether the mainboard needs to be replaced or not its Samsungs responsibility to cover the cost not me as the consumer as there is not negligence involved here and the mainboard is not damaged. If I was told the sim reader would be replaced if it is DAMAGED then its not my problem that its attached to the mainboard, its part of my repair for the sim reader. I refuse to pay R2000 for repair that I was TOLD would be covered by a warranty should it be the very problem at hand. To top it all off, the tablet is 4 months old.
