I have a Kirby. On a weekly basis, I get calls from Velaphi telling me my Kirby needs servicing. I live in a fully tiled home with only a carpet rug in my lounge. I caved and agreed to have it serviced. The machine was working fine- absolutely no issues. I get a call the next day telling me the machine requires repairs of just over R1700 . I refuse to proceed and my machine is returned in a disasembled state. When I called to find out why, i was told it was not meant to leave the workshop. The machine was collected to be reassembled and then returned the following week. I received smses advising machine would be returned after payment of R580 was received, themachine was then returned but with a deafening noise which they insist was present on collection and the reason for the horrific quote. I could have bought a new vacuum for what I've paid in servicing. I am now both out of pocket and have a previously well fuctinong machine now non utilizable due the noise it makes. This company forces you to service with them because your machine cannot be utilized once they have returned it disassembled but then state that you sent it because it was faulty.
