On Saturday we phoned a company that is apparently registered with the electrical board to come and help us with a power failure. AB Electrical (011 039 2745 / 084 451 4170) advertised in the Brakpan Herold (Local Newspaper). Their guys arrived here and after telling them what happened they insisted that the earth leakage and main switch must be replaced. They then proceeded to take that out and do a "temporary connection" in order for us to have electricity and come back the next day to replace the earth leakage and so on, even after my father-in-law told them that it was illegal to do something like that. Just before they left an electrician working for the town council phoned us and said that we must tell them to go and take the stuff from them that they removed. They insisted that we pay them R700 for the work done and didn't even have a receipt book to give us a receipt. When the other electrician arrived all the components they took out worked and the fault was just a faulty plug. I phoned the guys and told them to bring my money back and the owner said that he will see me in court as I have no proof that it was his guys.
