On the 18th August 2016 we paid Danie Swart a 70% deposit to supply and install brick paving at our new home.
On the 26th September 2016 he was meant to start with the paving work and he did not arrive on site. After chasing him several times he committed to meeting us on site on Monday 3rd October to commence with the work. He didn’t arrive for this meeting and we then discovered he was on a trip to the Orange river. We then called the paving supplier and discovered that he had not yet paid for the paving. It was then clear that he never intended to install our paving.
When he returned from his trip he assured us that he would pay us back our deposit. After many excuses and promises he has since not paid us our money back.
We have now had to appoint an Attorney to deal with the matter, hence additional costs.
We would like to make sure that he does not do this to his future clients.
Our new paving contractor takes the deposit only once the bricks are delivered to site- this is how reputable contractors work.
