We recently added a structure to our home for which a architectural drawing is required. We found Quinton Dewar online, advertising himself as a draughtsman - architectural designer - and he responded very quickly. He was also the first to come out to the property. He looked like the real deal - even had an iPad with drawings and images - exactly what we were looking for. He also was wearing a hearing aid and clearly deaf or hard of hearing. He offered to request existing building plans from council (which we didn't have). From the outset though - money and deposits were requested. Foolishly we paid him upfront for retrieving business plans from council - and on signing an agreement - we paid him a deposit for the drafting of the new plan. We became suspicious after many requests for a copy of the existing building plans failed - and he demanded full payment for the new plans before delivering the work. After many attempts - it became clear this is scheme. Right to the end he tried to extract more money. It became clear he was not going to deliver anything. Be warned. The is a conman.
