I paid Ronnie a 30% deposit for building work on my house (paid him almost R23000, total amount coming to R62000) - for two weeks after I made payment he gave me excuses as to why he wasn't on site working. He then came on a saturday with a plumber and connected up a toilet to the sewerage system and put in one pipe in my kitchen to supply water to my fridge. On the monday he came with a couple of workers and all they did was fix a hole in the wall. Tuesday he did nothing. Wednesday he phones me and asks for more money to pay his workers! I get home wednesday night - he had subcontracted another guy to skim walls and fix my ceiling and they did a good job, but then today (thursday) I get a mail from him saying I had to pay them R7000 for their work!! I spoke to the subcontractor and he told me the material costs for all the work that has been done so far come to less than R5000. Now neither myself nor subcontractor can get hold of Ronnie - he is not answering his phone or emails. What has happened to the other R18000 of my money? The subcontractor hasn't been paid for his work! Less than two days on the job and Ronnie has taken my money and disappeared!
