Some two years ago, I had very extensive alterations done to my home in Orcchards, Johannesburg. Gen Electrical were the contractors apopointed by the architects to handle the installation. I recently wanted to install insulation in the roofing, but the contractors wd not work in the roof space untill it was rendered safe. Sokme of teir concerns were electrical work (unclosed junction boxes). I immediately contacted the architects regarding a C.O.C. which they did not have, so they in turn cotacted Mr Pillay. They have had little success wutrh him. His excuse being that they moved premiseds and have yet to locate the file (some 2 months now). In fact, all they have to do is issue another COC. If the installation was complaint 2 years ago ti should still comply. I have even suggested this to him, but there is nothing forthcoming. There are all sorts of possible outcomes. One being, if there is a fire and I do not have a COC, insurance will not pay out. Another being that if I wanted to sell the house I might be in for reiwiring the house, before I can do so. I cannot find an Electrical Institution to complain to about this, which is why, in desperation I have turned to you.
